Wallpaper from network may not appear after reboot due to password or bitmap.
When a user selects desktop wallpaper from a network drive, the wallpaper selected may not be loaded after the next restart. If selected from a secure network resource, the wallpaper bitmap is not accessible until a password is entered. The system may not attempt to reload the wallpaper selected after the password is entered.
Copy the wallpaper bitmap to the 'Windows' directory of the local hard drive, and specify the wallpaper bitmap in 'Control Panel', 'Display'.
1) Copy the wallpaper bitmap file from the network drive to the local hard drive.
2) Configure the display settings:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
c) Double-click the 'Display' icon. (The 'Display Properties' dialog box appears.)
d) Click the 'Background' tab.
e) Select the bitmap you want from the list of available wallpaper bitmaps in the 'Wallpaper' list box.
f) Click 'OK'. (The 'Control Panel' window reappears.)
3) Save the desktop settings in your user profile:
a) In the 'Control Panel' window, double-click the 'Passwords' icon. (The 'Password Properties' dialog box appears.)
b) Click the 'User Profiles' tab.
c) Select the 'Users can customize their preferences and desktop settings. Windows switches to your personal settings whenever you log in' radio button.
d) Click 'OK'. (The 'Control Panel' window reappears.)
